As the economy worsens, it is becoming more and more apparent that we are spending ourselves into financial ruin. Whether this spending is done at the local, state or federal level, we can no longer afford the kind of reckless spending that has become so commonplace. If we don’t cut spending now, higher taxes will be the result, and you the taxpayer will be asked to foot the bill.
A Candidate for Fiscal Accountability
As your Sheriff, I will implement a line—item, zero—based budget that is naturally transparent. With this type of budget, you will know exactly how your tax dollars are being spent. As your Sheriff I will make sure that our budget will be available for all the people to view on the internet.
The incumbent has stated in the past that he refuses to be micro-managed. He refuses to implement a zero-based budget, which is known to save money while at the same time improves the level of service to the community.
So, Do We Really Need?
Six Captains: With combined salaries and benefits of approximately $140,000 each. ($140,000 x 6 = $840,000)
This means that the benefits package of the top eight known officers
(excluding the Sheriff) is valued at over 1.1 million dollars.
A Human Resources Director and a Finance Director and Staff Services Director with a benefits package of approximately $130,000 each.
A Public Information Officer with benefits package including $65,000 salary, $15,000 in benefits, and a car estimated at $20,000 in value. This position makes approximately $100,000 per year.
THE BEST PART:
All positions come with benefits and perks, including their own county cars with gas cards available to them 24 hours a day, 7 day a week!!
In addition to this, there are 42 civilians who have take home vehicles.
Issues at a Glance

Stricter repercussions are needed for molesters of our children and our seniors citizens.
Lobby for harsher penalties for those who choose to exploit senior citizens.

I Will Right the Wrongs That Have Been Done Over the Years
A formal review of all files of the personnel fired or let go during the past 12 years.
Independent, non-biased audit of the department conducted by an entity outside of the county.
Abuse of power, above the law mentality, favoritism, double standards, cronyism, and violation of your constitutional rights will not be tolerated and will come to an end.
No one will be stopped in their vehicle with out reasonable suspicion that they have done something wrong.
Everyone will be treated fairly and equally.
All members of the department will be held to a higher standard of professionalism.
My Proposals as Sheriff
Cut unnecessary expenses, not services.
Eliminate county vehicles for all non-responders and non-emergency personnel.
The reorganization of upper-levels of supervision.
Implement an Employee Bill of Rights. At present, employees serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff. This has to end.
The Fire Department will go back to the County Administration.

My pledge, and number one responsibility to the citizens of Citrus County, is to keep you safe. This will be achieved by providing exemplary deputies and support staff, while at the same time lowering costs and increasing accountability. I further pledge to be the guardian of all the constitutional rights of everybody in Citrus County.
